Ajo Macho Oracion (Prayer)

I’ve always known that older family members have carried a clove of garlic in their purse or pant pocket. Now that dad is in hospice and we spend alot of time talking, he passed on the meaning of this thing called Ajo Macho (garlic). According to dad, Ajo Macho is believed to be the garlic that was planted on Mount Calvary after the crucifixtion. Thereafter, it became known as “holy garlic”. For generations, many take a piece of the garlic, dip it in holy water, let it dry and wrap in tape or back then a small white piece of cloth and place it in each corner of a room, thereby protecting the dwellers from evil.

It has also been known to be carried in your coin purse or wallet to help with business and finances. Below is the prayer that is to be said when blessing the garlic. I researched this prayer I found in my father’s bible to see if there was an english version, but no dice.

(English Version)

Miraculous Garlic put on Mount Calvary where Jesus died to give you eternal light and free us from all evil. Free me from prisons and demons, when my enemies seek to kill or hurt me, may their eyes not see me, may their feet not overtake me, may their hands not grab me, may their guns not fire at me, may their knives miss me and may evil not pursue me. Miraculous Garlic of goodness, take away envies, keep away my enemies, help me at work or in my business. Shield me with the care of those who surround me. So be it, and may it always be. Amen.

Vote Smart! Vote Congressman Lloyd Doggett!

“Sometimes, people don’t want to talk about the elephant in the room. In Texas, of course that means the population is increasing because of the growth of Latinos. We were supposed to get four new minority opportunity districts, [but] that went down to two. District 35 is one of them, and my opponent [Austin Congressman Lloyd Doggett], the last time I looked, was not a minority,”
-Sylvia Romo

Doggett is not the reason that Texas didn't get 4 new minority seats, Rick Perry and his cohorts are to blame. As far as anyone running for office, a candidate should be elected because of his/her abilities, leadership skills, vision, character and competence and for no other reason. Race should not play into the political process. You'd think we'd be beyond all this by now and apparently by Sylvia Romo's quote, well, she just doesn't get it.

Congressman Lloyd Doggett has and will remain to be an effective advocate for schools, veterans, health care and retirement security. Doggett's service to our state fits well with the neighborhoods that have now been joined from South San Antonio to North Austin.

Republicans believe District 35 is mostly Hispanic voters, so in order to benefit the GOP they are counting on and hoping that Hispanics will vote for a Hispanic candidate. We must show Republicans that Hispanics are not going to be pawns in their crooked game of politics. Republicans are counting on the Hispanic voter to take the bait and assist them in unseating their biggest threat and that threat being Lloyd Doggett. I ( and so should you) find it very offensive that Republicans believe we as Hispanics are incapable of and wouldn't look at a candidate for what they have done for their constituents, but instead vote for a candidate for their ethnicity, skin color or Hispanic surname. So what if Doggett is white! Doggett's experience and track record, by far, makes him the better advocate for this district and for Texas, much more than the Hispanic candidates Sylvia Romo and Maria Luisa Alvarado from San Antonio.

Doggett is the mover and shaker we need in Washington. I want experience representing myself and my community. I want a doer, not a person who wants to give it a try. I want someone who I know and that works for the betterment of my self and the state of Texas and right now that candidate is Congressman Lloyd Doggett.

Texas Needs To Vote Lloyd Doggett!

In a time when you have the Republican and Tea Party denying others the right to be heard we need Congressman Lloyd Doggett to represent the people of Texas in Washington.  Doggett is a true fighter for the people of Texas.   The fanatical right continue to insist on repealing Social Security, Medicare and Obamacare which would mean leaving millions of Americans without.

You have Republicans who are protecting companies that include Google, Apple, Pfizer drug, General Electric, Duke Energy who have spent over $50 million and hired 62 lobbyists to protect their off shore tax havens.  All under the disguise that these companies are bringing back jobs to the states and creating jobs for Americans.  Phooey!   These companies are not job creators, they are job destroyers.  We need representation and a fighters like Congressman Lloyd Doggett to stop these moochers.

America needs for you to vote Democrat, Texas needs for you to vote Lloyd Doggett! - Cihuapilli

Message To Republicans: You Caused Your Women Issues!

Message To Republicans: You Caused Your Women Issues!

Stop playing the blame game and take some responsibility for losing women’s votes. It wasn’t the Democrats that put together an all male panel to discuss birth control. The Democrats do not oppose fair pay legislation. The Democrats have not opposed the Violence against women act. The Democrats did not threaten a government shut down and waste months of legislation time on Planned Parenthood (a service nearly all women who are broke including my self at one time to get an affordable pap smear). The Democrats as a party are not supporting legislation that forces the government to insert a vaginal probe in me against my will if I choose to end my pregnancy, not to mention pay for the unwanted procedure.

Women aren’t stupid and can see that the GOP legislation these past 2 years has been wasted and focused on anything but real issues. There were over 1100 bills waging war on women by Republicans this last year. Now they have the gall to look straight into the camera and lie to the American public: "What War on Women?" The GOP has declared war on women and now with the presidential election on the horizon, we as women are supposed to believe they now care? The Republicans had their chance and they blew it. Women voters are offended by GOP in-actions to further women’s issues in this country and have lost the majority of the women’s votes. Let's get as many Republicans out of office as we can. They wanted a war, well, they're getting one. It is only the beginning. Next step the voting booth and we're going to win! -Cihuapilli

U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Austin, urges people to make their frustration known in the upcoming primary election, the November election and beyond.

"Do we have a movement here or do we have a moment?" "Lets look at what we have here. The attacks on Planned Parenthood, the difficulty we've had getting an equal pay law approved for women, the action in some states to move backwards of that in employment discrimination," "I think it is a war on women. It's certainly not a peace conference and so I disagree with Speaker Boehner."

-Congressman Lloyd Doggett.
