The Advocates -Boxing Youth Program Offers Positive Physical And Mental Health Benefits To The Youth Of San Antonio Texas

As a completely non-aggressive female, the sport of boxing can be hard to understand.  Personally, boxing conjures up images of a violent sport and bloody squashed noses.  I couldn’t be more wrong.
Yesterday, I attended a dinner benefit for the Advocates Social Services of San Antonio Texas 1610 Buena Vista, San Antonio, Texas 78207 (210) 212-7700 or (210) 535-4422. (a non-profit organizzation helping the community) Jason Mata is Program Director of The Advocates -Boxing Youth Program. He has been involved with the organizations since 1996 and is also a Certified USA Boxing level II coach
Boxing teaches children discipline, self-control, improves their concentration and promotes social inclusion. Like many physical activities is also boosts fitness level, keep kids active, boosts, self-esteem and improves confidence levels. Children are also taught not to use it outside of the classroom and the importance of respecting others.  Remember, this organization is non-profit and all donations go back to the kids and to the needs of less fortunate families in the community.  All donations are appreciated.  For more information on this organization please go hereGreat job Jason Mata, Charlie Mata and Advocates crew!
Also in attendance were Congressmen Lloyd Doggett and Libby Doggett.  Doggett is seeking reelection along the I-35 corridor, from San Antonio to Austin, in District 35.  As I’ve said before, Doggett has been an advocate for the values of working families. Doggett is a hard core Democrat through and through.  I’m asking you all to vote for the candidate who focuses on doing their job, not one who’s looking for a job. That candidate is Congressman Lloyd Doggett. While Rick Perry and his GOP cohorts are taking away resources for education and programs that benefit and prepare a bright future for the children of Texas, Doggett is right in there fighting for our children and for the people of Texas in general.  For more information on Congressman Doggett, please click here.  Early voting begins in person on May 14. 2012 and Election Day is May 29th, 2012.
I want to thank everyone who made me feel so welcome and share a few photos of the event.  Thanks to the young adult boxers from The Advocates -Boxing Youth Program and the Villarreal Boxing Program for allowing me to get in their face with a camera, y’all did a great job!
