When a politician makes a personal claim before the voters, it is their responsibility to know exactly that what they are saying is true, to have the evidence to back up the statement. Resume inflation is just lying. I don't care if it's a Democrat claiming military credentials that they don't have, or a Republican claiming anti-communist credentials they don't have, both are instances of lying, pure and simple.
Another fact that Marco Rubio and most Republicans simply do not get is this. Despite the warped US policy which treats all Cubans as political refugees, they are still outnumbered by Mexican and Puerto Rican immigrants, their children and grandchildren a gazillion to one.
Do Rubio and GOP really think that a second generation Cuban-American Republican is going to pick up the votes of a second generation Mexican-American simply because of a shared second language, Spanish colonial legacy and appearance? Their experiences are completely different; their ideologies are vastly different in terms of policy. Did it ever occur to them that the special status Cubans enjoy via immigration might ruffle the feathers of people from other countries due to its blatant unfairness? Did it ever occur to Rubio that his belonging to an evangelical Protestant church while telling Hispanic voters he's still a Catholic (and occasionally dropping into Mass to keep up appearances) might offend some?
Rubio and the GOP underestimate and discredit the wider Latino population by assuming they are not politically sophisticated enough to know when they are being screwed. They will dig themselves into a deeper hole, as they resist meaningful immigration reform, they want to overturn the 14th Amendment, they attempt to implement draconian laws which include elements of racial profiling in states where the Mexican (Honduran, Guatemalan, etc) immigrant population is large while the Cuban immigrant population is miniscule, and tend to blame immigrants for all the country's ills - yet they want to leave our absurd Cuban immigration policy intact.
Marco Rubio is a young, smart, talented public speaker. He is a career politician having served 9 years in the Florida House of Representatives. He's got a JD from a prestigious law school and a BA in Political Science. He wrote an "ideas" book. He's served less than 1 year in the US Senate. The similarities between his career resume' and Barack Obama's are uncanny. If he makes his mark in the Senate, he could be a big asset to a future GOP ticket - NOT because his parents came from Cuba, but because of his own talents.
But there's something else you're forgetting. Marco Rubio said in January he will not accept an invitation to be on the 2012 Presidential ticket. After the credit card scandal, the foreclosure scandal, the flip-flopping from Catholic to Southern Baptist (depending whose vote he's courting) and his dreadful handling of the "when his parents came to America" controversy, if he goes back on that pledge his reputation as a liar will be firmly cemented.

Marco Rubio's Memory Problem
Rick Sanchez.Journalist, reporter, news anchor
I belong to a group of people who came to America at the expense of all we had. My family left Cuba. We owned a car and a home. We had a good life. And we left it all behind. That's what political refugees do.
"Freedom isn't free," is an adage seared into my mother's memory. She kept repeating it in her head as she stood at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport in the winter of 1962. That's when Fidel Castro's Milicianos--his militia men--rifled through her clothing looking for family heirlooms and anything of value. Those leaving weren't allowed to take anything with them, but my Aunt Mimi and others defied them by sewing a handful of jewelry and other belongings into their dresses and, in some cases, even their undergarments.(Read Full Story)

Utah Police: To control and intimidate... I mean protect and serve.
Have they stopped teaching restraint and common sense in the academies? What we see coming out of some of our police departments disturbs me, they seem to have lost a thing called common sense. The actions of these police officers are an example of why Americans are feeling very uncomfortable with the actions of their police departments in general. The words "Serve and Protect" don't seem to have the meaning that they did 30 years ago. - Cihuapilli

Republican Phil Mitsch Should Avoid Offering Relationship Advice.
As a candidate Phil Mitsch should probably worry more about the office he is or was seeking, and what that office is about, then worrying about how a generic woman can keep her man.
It has been my experience that State Senators are rarely called upon to help save any marriage other then their own. Most of those that have been confronted with the need to save their marriage have been woefully inept at doing so.
NJ GOP candidate says women "should act like whores"
Let’s say you’re running for State Senate of New Jersey and you pull an “oops” and go and tell women across the Garden State and the world that they should act like whores. What do you do?
Republican candidate Phil Mitsch is apparently a man of his word.
Despite the GOP urging him to drop out of the upcoming race for a recent comment the candidate posted on his Twitter page, Mitsch is not only sticking by his statement but is defending it too. (Full Story)

American Voters Get It Right! Obama Is Not The Problem!
Every single Senate Republican, joined by two Democrats, voted to block this portion of Obama’s jobs plan, even though it’s supported by large majorities of the American people, including independents. So America, instead of using Obama as a scapegoat utilize the brains God gave us all and place the blame on those who deserve the blame. Then when you’re done pointing the finger exercise your vote to remove those who put profit ahead of our country and its people.

Republicans will go to no ends to make this nation fail in order to end the Presidents chances at another election.
America, are you waking up yet? We the people should view this failure to pass this jobs bill an act of treason against the American people. The GOP and a few Democrats intentionally chose profit over human beings. The GOP base and its corporate owners know full well that they are obstructing everything and have said as much. Yet, we still have many Americans that follow this party of hate and are so blind that they don’t realize that they themselves (teachers, law enforcement, fire fighters…) are losing jobs and getting foreclosed on. I ask those GOP followers, where are the GOP savior’s now and how are they working out for you?
President Obama has to drop one bill after another on these malcontents. Force them to go on record to either fulfill all their mid term promises of jobs or continue doing a whole hell of a lot of nothing while Americans are suffering. Obama has to stay out front and keep fighting for all of us, or at least 99%.
Back to you America, for the love of your county and its future, open you eyes and see that it’s not Obama leading us down the path of destruction, but the Senate and Congress, you the ones who said anything and everything to get your vote. America made a huge mistake in the 2010 elections because they were fed and swallowed lies from the GOP and Tea Party base, let’s not make this mistake again. - Cihuapilli
President calls Senate Blockade on Jobs Act ‘Unacceptable’
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/president-calls-senate-blockade-on-jobs-act-unacceptable/
A divided Senate rejected two jobs initiatives supported by the president on Thursday night and President Obama issued a midnight denunciation of the political gridlock.
“For the second time in two weeks,” he wrote, “every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again. That’s unacceptable.”
Republicans were joined by three Democratic senators in refusing to pass the president’s request for $35 billion in immediate support to communities where teachers, police, and firefighters are facing layoffs because of tight local finances.
The president demanded in his response, “Those Americans deserve an explanation as to why they don’t deserve those jobs – and every American deserves an explanation as to why Republicans refuse to step up to the plate and do what’s necessary to create jobs and grow the economy right now.”
In a bipartisan vote, the Senate also turned back a proposal from Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell, which was part of the president’s proposed American Jobs Act, eliminating a 3 percent withholding rule for money paid to government contractors and vendors. Supporters argue the 3 percent should remain in the hands of companies. Ten Democrats joined all Republican senators in blocking that provision.
President Obama takes his case for jobs legislation on the road again next week to the West Coast. His statement rebuking the Senate declares, “Our fight isn’t over.”

Rep. Joaquin Castro: Did He Or Didn't He? Is He Or Isn't He?
The other evening I was scrolling through my facebook newsfeed and noticed a local San Antonio judge having a hissy fit about the Doggett Campaign staff bullying on his friend Rep. Joaquin Castro. Not that I condone it, however and regardless what party you belong to, if you can't take the heat, don't jump into the frying pan. Besides, I wonder justs how much this very liberal judge knows about his friend Joaquin Castro.
I will tell you what I do know and that is that Congressman Lloyd Doggett has certainly struggled to keep the public interest first and foremost ahead, in his concerns. Doggett is also at least 5 times brighter than Castro and holds a huge edge in political savvy. By helping the Republicans “Perrymander”Central Texas , Castro hurt other Democrats. As it turns out, Mr. Castro worked With Republicans on developing this map, not Against the map. Good Democrat? Honest? Bad memory, selective memory, or...

Gene Dawson - Principal of Pape-Dawson Engineering
Sam Dawson - Principal of Pape-Dawson Engineering
Carl Raba - Principal of Raba-Kistner Engineering
Bill Kaufman - President of Kaufman & Killen, Inc.
H. Bartell Zachary - Zachary Construction.
A check of the Federal Elections Filings in August showed that these 5 have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Republican National Committee, George W. Bush, John McCain, Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison, John Cornyn, Republican Governors PAC and Republican Candidates in other States. NOT ONE CENT went to the DNC or Obama.
For the Record:
Pape-Dawson Engineering is the largest single recipient of Engineering Contracts from The City of San Antonio and San Antonio Water Systems.
The Kaufman & Killen web site states: "The firm represents clients before the City of San Antonio, San Antonio Water System, Edwards Underground Water District and other area governmental entities."
Zachary is Cintra's partner in Perry's Land Heist known as SH130; Raba-Kistner is a major consultant in the scam.
Again I ask, is Tx House Rep. Joaquin Castro really the mover and shaker we need in Washington? Is he really a true Democrat or will he be like others who get elected and then change political parties. In the shape this country is in today, I want to go with who I know and who works, and right now that man is Congressman Lloyd Dogget.
Questions Rep. Castro Involvement in Redistricting
RECEIVED Tue., Oct. 11, 2011
Dear Editor,
The Oct. 7 edition of your paper carried a story that spoke to redistricting as related to the actions of this past legislative session [“Get Out Your Colored Pencils,” News, Oct. 7]. The result of their gerrymandering is that two Democrats have to run against each other in the coming primaries.
Now we learn from your article that there is sworn testimony that two Democratic state representatives conspired to add to the problems that were aimed at unseating Congressman Lloyd Doggett. One of them according to testimony was Doggett's apparent opponent in the March Democratic primary.
We in Austin have been led to believe by state House Rep. Joaquin Castro, that the sole responsibility for drawing the map for the new Congressional District 35 belongs to the Republican majority on the committee for redistricting. What I recall in listening to Rep. Castro at two of his presentations was that he had no involvement in drawing the map for this new district. His message was that the redistricting happened despite his opposition. He felt that he had no choice but to announce for the office before someone else announced. It is disappointing that we in Austin, if this testimony is true, were misled by this young, promising official who had many kind words for Congressman Doggett in his talks.
I did not fault Rep. Castro for not mentioning the important committees to which Congressman Doggett has been appointed. However, his misleading of Austin Democrats (should the testimony prove to be correct) indicates a lack of basic principles which we should always insist upon from those we chose as our leaders.
The map gives a San Antonio candidate a distinct advantage, and voters in Austin should not ignore this fact. The map also strengthens the Republican scheme to oust Congressman Doggett because he speaks out against Gov. Rick Perry and Tom DeLay's blatant abuses of power. It also causes problems for Congressman Charlie Gonzalez, who many in Bexar County depend upon to look after their needs. The other part of the whole thing is that it helps keep those Republicans in office who have not shown an inclination to help the working-class American.

As you know, our society's youth will have a tremendous impact on our city's future. Whether because of lack of education and guidance, bad influences, marginalization, or feeling disenfranchised, our youth is underachieving and becoming more and more vulnerable.
Other issues At-Risk youth face are Exploitation, Exploitation by family members, Exploitation by strangers and Exploitation that could potentially lead to human trafficking and child slavery, sexual, physical, or mental abuse, Bullying, poverty, substance abuse, childhood Obesity, malnutrition, homelessness, gang violence, low self esteem, teenage pregnancy, Mental Illness, and among everything else, lack of Faith.
According to Census statistics and other related research, there are close to 400,000 youth in San Antonio under the age of 19 years old. In the Westside of San Antonio, there are areas where the teenage pregnancy Rate is four (4) times higher than the national rate. The childhood obesity problem is just as severe with over 30% of San Antonio children between the ages of 8-10 years old struggle with obesity. Both juvenile crime and the school drop out rate remain consistently high and 17% of San Antonio residents live in poverty. A more recent study out of Austin Texas reported that nearly 60% of all public junior high and high school students have had to be disciplined at one point or another while in school. And in some case some students had to be disciplined over 10 times.
As one of the directors of The Advocates–Boxing Youth Program, I have personally witnessed the benefits of a structured youth development program that takes a holistic approach that targets the basis from where most of these issues derive: the Household. We work with a wide-ranging social service network that is based on meeting specific basic family needs. We aim to create a “worry free” environment with the ultimate goal of giving program participants a better chance of “reaching their full potential” at home, school, amongst their peers, and in life. It is a concept that was first created by my father Charlie Mata in the late 1950's when he was a youth social worker and amateur boxer for a local church.
Our boxing program works with youth from the ages 8-22 years old. We offer our services free of charge and have been in contact with close to 700 documented participants. We offer contact and non-contact training, giving everyone a chance to participate. It is absolutely a goal of ours to provide a Safety Net for at-risk youth. Many kids have lost weight and about 85% percent of all past participants have either graduated school high school, attended college, or are employed. Boxing is very demanding sport requiring discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance. We use boxing as tool to help kids all year round and as an alternative to seasonal sports.
The situation surrounding our youth has become mundane. There is an urgent need for creativity and innovation. No one organization or program can successfully tackle these issues alone. Local city and county governments officials need to continue to prioritize youth development initiatives making it public policy and work with organization’s who are going to put forth a sincere good faith effort.
To turn a blind eye to this problem, would not only be fiscally irresponsible but could be viewed by some as Inhumane. No one is to blame, but we must all act and be willing to take an aggressive and necessary approach. Becoming involved through volunteering or investing with contributions to local Youth Programs is a good start.
We are always willing to partner with local governments and other non-profit entities. If you are interested in our program, please call (210) 212-7700 or email us at jasonmata@tass-sat.org.
Thank you.

The Unemployed Continue To Be GOP and Tea Party Scapegoat As They Vote No To Jobs Bill
Are you tired yet? What more proof does one need that the GOP are all about protecting the 1% richest people and corporations of this country. Once again the GOP Senate turned its back on the regular folks like you and I. The Republican Party and Tea Party should be reminded that it’s “We the people” and not “We the corporations”. This nation is tired of politicians being in anyone’s pockets except the people of this nation. I know I’m not looking for a free ride, but just like everyone else, I just want to keep my home, my job and maintain a middle class lifestyle.
Two Democrats (or should I say republicans in democratic clothing), Republicans and Tea Party members voted against this much needed jobs bill. They turned their backs on the American people again and it had nothing to do with the content of the bill (because they were all for it when it was their exact bill, but now…) and had everything to do with denying President Barack Obama a legislative win.
Look people, President Obama has shown that he exhausted every possibility of cooperating with a wall of opposition, as any sentient human being might do. Now Republicans have to vote on each part of the job bill individually, demonstrating to the public and out-of-work Americans exactly where they stand with the GOP, which is nowhere.
Some folks may want to dismiss President Obama as an ineffective leader, but most of us realize that he has exhausted his and the public's patience going up against political party/parties who are determined to make Obama a one term president even if it means destroying this country and its citizens. It is time to clean house America! - Cihuapilli

Hyprocritical Republican Gov. Chris Christie Criticizes Rick Perry
How hypcritical of Mr. Christie. It was apparant the GOP had no problem questioning or criticizing a religion when President Barack Obama was running for office. Well Gov. Christie, looks as if you have a huge fight ahead of you if your GOP and Tea Party voters run true to form. As the saying goes, "what's good for the goose will certainly be good for Mitt "Gander" Romney. -Cihuapilli
New Jersey's Gov. Chris Christie's remarks regarding the Rick Perry campaigns association with a Texas pastor who criticized Mitt Romney's Mormon religion.
"These type of religious matters have nothing to do with the quality of somebody's ability to lead," Christie said. "Any campaign that associates itself with that type of conduct is beneath the office of president of the United States."

Texas State Rep.Joaquin Castro: A Republican In Democratic Clothing?
I believe that most politicians... including Joaquin Castro started out with good intentions and then the "power brokers" got in their ear and "turned" them. Then there’s the political vandalism, seeing double, being at two places at one time tricks and games played by Joaquin and twin brother City of San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro. Perhaps it wasn’t illegal, but deceptive? Absolutely!
A win by Castro is giving the GOP what they want. The GOP are seeking out the Hispanic vote and counting on the Hispanic voter to cast their ballot for the brown guy. It's not to say Castro wouldn’t be an effective Congressman, I'm just telling you how the Republicans see it. I know Joaquin Castro has done some good things in our state capital, and voted correctly most of the time, but I and many others don't just want another Yes man/vote in Congress.
Congressman Lloyd Doggett has worked many years to fight for the ideas of equal treatment of Gays and Lesbians, Hispanic, Jews, African-Americans and Native-Americans. He has worked to give people with disabilities an equal shot at education and employment opportunities. He’s also supported environmental policies that keep Texas as beautiful as it is today. I want a leader, a thinker, a person who has seniority on Ways and Means who understands how to unravel the tax code in positive ways to close loopholes. People, it’s as simple as the old saying goes…”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
It’s time for all of us to take out vote seriously and make our vote count. So take a few moments away from all the social networking and computer games to read up more on how Congressman Doggett is the man we still want in Washington looking after our interests and the interests of our great nation.

So here's a little discussion regarding the Doggett vs. Castro race.
In no way am I telling or suggesting to people how to vote, but instead to learn about the people who want to represent you and your interests. Do your homework people. Our nation can't afford much more incompetency in our governement. Make up your own mind and get out and vote!

Apple's Visionary Leader Dead At 56. Rest In Peace Steve Jobs.
Steve was one of those great sons of our great country. Someone who innovated and influenced our culture. With all the despair, and ill feelings being displayed towards one another, people should take a moment to see acknowledge what we do right. Steve was one of those bright lights in our countries history and he will truly be missed. My sincerest condolences to the Jobs Family and the Apple Family.

Hank Williams Jr. Compares Obama to Hitler [VIDEO]
LET THE BACK LASH BEGIN: AND YET ANOTHER UPDATE.
ESPN severs relationship with singer Hank Williams Jr.
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10/06/espn-severs-relationship-with-singer-hank-williams-jr/
UPDATE
ESPN decided to pull its Monday Night Football introduction after singer Hank Williams, Jr. made comments comparing President Obama to Hitler. A statement put out by the network read:
"While Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast."
A source at ESPN told The Huffington Post that they are still evaluating whether they will use the song in the future.
UPDATE [9:08 p.m. ET]: TMZ reports on a statement released by Williams in which he explains that his comment was "misunderstood":

This coming from a man who can't get his life in order and get off the drugs and break the "family tradition". Living off his Daddy's talent--Jr. is in no way as talented as Hank. And he wants to run for public office in the state of TN...now that's a joke. TN, you deserve everything you get if you're foolish enough to even consider this moron for office of your great state. I'm ready for some football, but is Hank Williams Jr. ready for some backlash? -Cihuapilli
