Michelle Bachmann Leaning Closer To A Persidential Bid

Michelle Bachman’s grasp of American history is shameful. One can't determine if she is deliberately lying or actually doesn't know any better when she presents the half-truth about the corporate tax rate in America being one of the highest. If she knew or was willing to present the full truth, she would also point out how they actually pay one of the lowest tax rates in the world.

Bachman and other GOP/Tea Party hopefuls have one thing in common, and that’s a very poor memory. America has not forgotten that it was the Republican Party and closet Tea bagger’s who caused this unstable and sagging economy within 8 years. They led us into at least 1 illegal war that we know of that has no end in sight and made multi billion dollar deals with contractors with the Department of Defense while leaving the American people out to drown in debt.

The GOP and Tea Party presidential hopefuls, find it easy to pass their mess of rising unemployment, tax breaks to the rich who then in turn, use those breaks to out source jobs, snubbing American workers who are in need of a job…oh yeah, blame it all on President Obama.

No! America has not forgotten! This was their mess! The GOP and Tea Party
have no chance in hell of having the opportunity to lead this country again. We have learned from the past and the present that both the GOP and Tea Party are all about the almighty dollar and sit idly by while the American people, the American worker suffer.

Potential presidential candidate, Michelle Bachman spends 90% of her time just making up convenient crap. The GOP and Tea Party will have to do better than this. There's no way that any sound minded person would vote for this mindless disaster in a skirt. - Cihuapilli

Michele Bachmann likely to form presidential exploratory committee

By Rachel Weiner and Chris Cillizza

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is likely to form a presidential exploratory committee, two advisers said Thursday. The committee could be formed as soon as May but no later than June.

"The size and enthusiasm of the crowds she has been attracting is very encouraging,” said Ed Brookover, a consultant to Bachmann. “The voters are telling her to keep pushing forward with her fight to stop this unparalleled growth of government.”

Bachmann is currently in Iowa, speaking to grassroots activists and state legislators. This morning she addressed the state Senate caucus and has secured the support of Iowa state Sen. Kent Sorenson.

“I'm not saying it's false," she said of the reports, adding: "It could be before then."

If Bachmann does form a committee, she would join former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, businessman Herman Cain and former Louisiana governor Buddy Roemer in that exploratory phase.

Bachmann has made a national name for herself thanks in part to her outspoken — and unapologetic — conservatism. Of late, she’s also been logging serious time in early primary states. And, if former Alaska governor Sarah Palin stays out of the race, voters looking for a charismatic, aggressive conservative could well gravitate towards Bachmann.

Like Palin, Bachmann has not built up the infrastructure traditionally used to win over primary and caucus voters. Until now, she’s relied primarily on her own family as a campaign team.

"The only person she talks to as an insider is her husband, Marcus, who's a wonderful man, and her son Lucas," former Minnesota Republican Party Chair Ron Carey, who served as Bachmann's chief of staff last year, told the Star-Tribune. "That's really her brain trust."

Brookover is, however, a well known commodity in Republican political circles and there are some indications that Bachmann is building a campaign team that could help her navigate the difficult process of running for president. She also has a network of tea party activists across the country.

One thing that is not in question is Bachmann’s ability to raise money. She has proven herself to be one of the most dynamic fundraisers in the party and in the 2008 election alone, she collected a stunning $13.5 million for her reelection race in the suburban 6th district. One Bachmann adviser said the the money is indicative of the excitement Bachmann generates on the campaign trail; “It’s times five, times ten” of the other candidates in the field, the source insisted.

It’s not yet clear whether Bachmann would abandon her House seat if she ran for president; if not, she could face a real race in a seat that clearly tilts toward Republicans but is by no means a lock for her in a presidential year.

No More Breaks For DWI Offenders

Don't Drink And Drive!

Alcohol remains the most dangerous drug of all in this country, especially in the city of San Antonio Texas. Every year alcohol kills more people than all other drugs combined. Penalties for driving under the influence are more strict than they used to be, however not enough to curtail the problem.

To the detriment of themselves and others, people from all walks of life are still drinking and driving. Whole families, mothers, fathers, and children are being sacrificed every year to this drug, and yet we have this hands off approach.

It is time for our elected officials to get tough with drinking and driving. The cost of this legal drug is just too high. Lawmakers need to say "No" to the alcohol lobby and the alcohol industry needs to "educate" their consumers.

We all need to say we have had enough. We need to make the act of drinking and driving as unsavory as being a sex offender, as this problem is destroying more people, families, children, and employers, and whole communities than any sex offender could. This is a destructive problem and it needs to be dealt with in the most draconian terms.

Are we not tired of the carnage and ruined lives? I know I am. It is time we unite as a community and say " No More", we have had enough!

Five Generations Lenten Capirotada Recipe

It's Lent and among many other traditions, it's time for Capirotada (Mexican Bread Pudding)....Yummylicious!
Here is 1 of many authentic Capirotada recipes that are out there.   This is one recipe that has been passed down from my Great-Great Grandmother Ama Florencia, Great-Grandmother's Ama Juanita and Ama Soledad, Grandma Nachita, Mom Mary Louise and down to me.

I love making this dish.  It brings back the memories of all these women huddled in a small kitchen when I was small.  Call me abnormal, but I was always one to want to hang out with the adults as a child while all the cousins and other kids were outside playing.  How else was one supposed to keep up with family chisme.  And perhaps that's how I ended up with all their cooking secrets and recipes that the family now inquire about.  I'm an only child, do you really think I'm going to share?

CAPIROTADA RECIPE

5 cups french bread or bolillos cut into 1/2 inch pieces

2 1/2 cups water

2 cups grated piloncillo (or substitute dark brown sugar)

2 tsp. ground cinnamon or 4 cinnamon sticks

2 cup raisins (I prefer golden)

2 cups pitted prunes (chopped)

¼ cup melted butter

2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

1 1/2 cups diced Cheddar cheese

1 tsp ground nutmeg

Cooking oil as needed.

OK, let's get started...
If the bread is fresh begin by spreading the bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast at 375 degrees until slightly dried and just starting to brown.

In a saucepan, combine water, butter, piloncillo/brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon and bring to boil. Stir until sugar or piloncillo is completely dissolved and remove from heat.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread cubes, cheese, nuts and raisins, prunes.

Pour the syrup mixture over and toss until well mixed.

Pour mixture into a deep greased baking pan or casserole.

Bake in preheated oven 375 degrees for about 20 minutes and serve warm.

Show Your Power! Support Wisconsin Activists Determined Spirit And Action.

The workers in Wisconsin have already stated that they will accept the cuts in pay and increased contributions. This is all about the Republicans now trying to take away the right to collectively negotiate a contract and anyone who agrees with this is a fool.

People died in this country so that you people have a 5 day 40 hour work week instead of a 6 day 72 hour work week. People died so that you have some holidays off. People died so that you get a week or two of vacation every year. People gave their lives fighting for these rights that every American worker is now blessed with. And some cowards would throw the American worker under the bus so easily.

So unless Gov. Walker, (who has been on the public payroll for many years) is willing to work for the same 50+ K salary and the same benefits as the teachers, he’s just another Republican with the same philosophy “I got mine, so screw you”

I say again, Wisconsin did not have a budget deficit until the new Governor Walker decided to give tax breaks to corporations. Again, now Walker is attempting to bust unions and plead that he must balance the deficit by cutting salaries and benefits for middle income and poor families. America, this is your wake up call! Act and Vote accordingly!

We may resent union perks, but they have had a valid role, and they should be a goal for more workers rather than something to cut in hard times. (Full Story Here)
