San Antonio Police Association Ruffles Feathers Within The Department With David Medina Endorsement.

Update: 04/15/2013: Make no mistake that the SAPOA endorsement for Councilman David Medina is none other than a self interest endorsement.  SAPOA board member Frank Garibay addressed several roll calls stating that although he received flack from some officers, especially the Traffic division, he explained to them it was a necesarry endorsement. Garibay encouraged officers to get involved in this local election and David Medina re-elected for it would be very "beneficial" for the officers and the department.  Unfortunately, it appears the almighty buck won out over the dignity of the SAPOA and its members.  IMHO, the Traffic Division sold themselves out short.  My questions is, again, how does this endorsement of David Medina "benefit" San Antonios District 5 and its constiuents?  It doesn't.

You would think the SAPOA would run their endorsements by thier members, especially when it comes to the holier than thou and no show David Medina.  You have to wonder what the SAPOA could possibly gain from a young Medina who dresses well, has been in "college" for 7 (yes seven) years and still has no degree in anything vaguely close to politics much less anything else.  Lobbyists must be assisting this career student with his day to day living expenses since his financial disclosure reports still show no verifiable income. (Daddys allowance doesn't count David)

How can anyone take David Medina seriously when and if he shows up to Dist. 5 events attempting to encourage kids in D5 to "work hard, go to college" to get ahead while Medina is proof that no education and no job could land a person in office and still live the American dream.  David Medina's narcissism is anything but difficult to detect.  San Antonio's District 5 deserves better, but Medina is counting on constituents to do what they do best, which is stay home and not vote.  District 5, you have to do alot better for your community than you've been doing.  Get out and vote David Medina out or stop complaining.

ENDORSES

SAPOA endorsement rankles rank-and-file cops

Two weeks ago, Frank Garibay walked into morning roll call for the San Antonio Police Department's traffic cops and made an announcement.

Garibay, chairman of the San Antonio Police Officers Association's political action committee, informed the cops in the room that SAPOA had decided to endorse David Medina in his District 5 City Council race.
Garibay couldn't have sparked more consternation if he'd walked into a first-grade classroom and announced that Christmas is canceled this year.

Henry 'El Zapatista' Rodriguez Endorses San Antonio District 5 Candidate John Carlos Garcia.

Why Would Mayor Julian Castro Support "Coming Up Empty" District 5 Candidate David Medina?

San Antonio City Councilman David Medina's "Empty" Office.

As usual, no one at home.   It's way after noon and still an empty office.
Empty chair at council and his home office?  San Antonio's District 5 deserves more than what Medina has done, or should we say not done in his 4 years of office.  The constiuents deserve someone with knowledge of District 5 and who is willing to work together with constituents to move the poorest district of San Antonio forward.  What is most troubling are the efforts of those who don't even reside in District 5, financially supporting the well known "yes man" David Medina.  Perhaps they're fine with Medina ignoring District 5's needs as long as they profit from his votes, but the people of District 5 are not and will make their voice heard at the polls.

Apparantly, Mayor Julian Castro has joined ranks with the San Antonio Police Association to endorse District 5 candidate David Medina by holding a campaign fundraiser at 500 dollars a plate.  Be honest, who the hell in District 5 can afford this?  So I say again, it's outside money supporting a candidate who will continue to keep District 5 in its place and throw its constituents a bone now and then to keep them quiet.  Nice write up Mayor Castro, however no one who actually lives in District 5 will ever see it much less believe it.  We all know how well that type of campaigning did with Charlie Gonzalez and Lloyd Doggett and now we can add David Medina to the list.  We don't need a candidate that's in somebody's pocket or in debt to another political figure.  We need someone qualified and someone who cares about District 5 and its constituents.

A note to the Medina campaign, be more aware of who you invite.

Paul Ryan: The Greatest Con Man In Congressional History

Ryan got more than his fair share of government assistance in life but like any good hypocrite decided to become a professional politician to keep the train rolling. His so-called budget is nothing but a present for plutocrats and defense contractors. It's only conservative to those who are not already part of the American aristocracy.

Paul Ryan grew up, on Social Security and Medicare, he got it until he graduated, but he would begrudge people who have paid into it their entire working lives. He received far more than his daddy put in, yet he thinks everyone else is a taker. He married into money, got into politics because he couldn't or wouldn't do a real job, and he said nothing about cutting his salary, benefits or the golden umbrella he will get when he is finally voted out of office.

Ryan's budget is mostly the repeal of a wide array of civil rights by abandonment of spending, by calling them unaffordable entitlements. If reduction of spending was the concern, it would occur in everything. But in Ryan's budget, reduction of spending is selective, and the burden is carried by reduction of support for civil rights, effectively and essentially repealing them by fiscal reduction and abandonment.

When you understand this, you know why Ryan and the GOP as they are in general are unfit for representation and leadership. If they change, it won't be to help anyone, but to save themselves.

John Carlos Garcia: Restoring Hope For Revitalization In San Antonio's District 5

I believe we can all agree, well at least the constituents of District 5, that now is the time to vote City Councilman David Medina out of office.

District 5 is blighted by rising crime, unpaved streets and just plain garbage. Medina promised reform efforts and failed. The only time you see Medina out and about is during campaign season and in front of the cameras. Increasing crime issues, especially prostitution and drug dealers need attention all year round and not only when David Medina is asking your vote so he can spend another term doing what he does best which is nothing.

Some parts of District 5 continue to have living conditions as those of a third world country. There are bigger and more serious issues that need to be addressed in this west side community other than the arts (Candidate Ricardo Briones) and making Dist.5 pedestrian and bicyclists friendly.(Candidate Shirley Gonzales)  Let's face facts, District 5 needs a major clean up in order to revitalize this historic community.

Another fact, the constituents need a person who's not from the establishment and someone who has a fresh perspective. After careful consideration, the best choice for the people and moving the community of District 5 forward is Candidate John Carlos Garcia.

John Carlos Garcia sees the unique and full of potential of District 5 and if elected, Garcia will play an important role in supporting its growth. In addition to other promises of making streets more safe, pedestrian and bike friendly, Garcia looks forward to helping local businesses open and sustain in the community that would be beneficial to all who reside in this community.

The citizens of District 5 aren't ready to view the community as a lost cause. A lot of candidates are going to make a lot of promises, then again so did David Medina.

Garcia has a vision of the constituents of District 5 coming together to move this community forward in shared positive ways during his time in office. Community safety is a top priority and Garcia believes it's time for the residents to come together as a community and say no more to crime.

San Antonio's District 5 has an aging deteriorating infrastructure and Garcia knows now is the critical time to reinvest in our community's infrastructure, our streets, our sidewalks, our walls and our parks. John Carlos Garcia will provide innovative ideas to strengthen our local businesses and our local economy.

Candidate John Carlos Garcia will be a city councilperson that is transparent, hard-working, ethical, open-minded, fiscally responsible, and accountable to all the residents of District 5. Vote Yes to John Carlos Garcia.
